Wireless Connectivity Configuration Walk-through
Simply go through the steps and set your options like the pictures represent. Once you do this , you're all set for connecting in the future!. Got a Mac? Click Here!
We realize the paradox, you can only see this page while you're on the network. You can save ( File -> Save As) or print ( File -> Print) this page and all its pictures for a walkthrough while you are at a wireless hotspot. Please have your email username and password handy. If you are unsure what it is, access info.mansfield.edu/myaccount before implementing these instructions.

Step 1 : Verify Hardware
If you see the "Wireless Network Connection" your hardware is ready to be configured.
Click the balloon to proceed

Step 2: Select the appropriate network

This window appears, to show you what networks are available.
ALL Mansfield University Sanctioned Wireless will be labeled "Mansfield". If you see another choice, please inform the helpline (x4357)
The last option in the "Related Tasks" panel on the left is "Change Advanced Settings".
Click "Change Advanced Settings" to proceed.

Step 3 : Properties Window

Make sure you select the "Mansfield" preferred network. We want to verify the settings for the "Mansfield" Connection.
Click the "Properties" button to proceed.

Step 4: Network Key Information

You should see that the SSID is "Mansfield".
The "Network Authentication" should read "Open". We are using "WEP" data encryption.
Since we randomly generate keys, for more security, check the box next to "The key is provided for me automatically".
Click the "Authentication" tab to proceed.

Step 4 : Authentication Properties

This tab allows you to fine tune the login capabilities of your machine. For our network, we use the IEEE 802.1x (802.11b and 802.11g specifically) authentication standards. Plase ensure that that checkbox is filled. We also use EAP type Protected EAP, (PEAP). Please select "Protected EAP (PEAP)" from the dropdown. Make sure the remaining checkboxes are empty.
Click the "Properties" button to proceed.

Step 5: EAP Properties

We negotiate a bit differently, and do not use a server certificate in the traditional way. This both makes it more secure as well as easier for you. Please make sure the "Validate Server Certificate" is unchecked.
Our Authentication Method is "Secured Password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)". Select it from the dropdown menu.
Click Configure to proceed.

Step 6: CHAP Properties

Please uncheck the box.
Proceed to Step 7

Step 7: Application of settings
1: Click "OK" ( This closes the EAP MSCHAPv2 Properties window)
2: Click "OK" ( This closes the Protected EAP Properties window)
3: Click "OK" ( This closes the Wireless Network Properties window)
4: Click "OK" ( This closes the Wireless Network Connection Properties window)
This should bring you to your desktop. As the settings are set, you'll see a balloon like so:
Double - Click the balloon to proceed.

Step 8: Entering Credentials
Clicking the balloon loads this form.
At this point, Students enter their Campus Services ID and Password Staff and Faculty enter their active directory (e-mail) ID and password .
Leave the "Logon Domain" blank.
Click OK to proceed

Step 9 : Verification of Connectivity

Right-Click the wireless monitors and get the above menu.
Select "Status" to proceed.

Step 10: Verification of Connectivity II
This window shows your status, which should say either " Attempting to Authenticate" or "Connected".
The window also gives you an idea of signal strength.
Click the "Support" tab to proceed.

Step 11: Viola!

Your IP address should start with "157.62" If it does, you're connected! If not, verify the settings again. If all else fails, the Helpdesk (x4357) can help.
